Top 10 Colleges for Online Master of Science (M.S.) Degrees

After the first online university was accredited in 1991, many institutions have started offering graduate degrees entirely online. The opportunity to earn a degree through online and distance learning programs has made education more accessible, convenient, and cost effective.

Students can earn online degrees from universities operating entirely online or from traditional universities with online and distance learning programs. Online degree programs typically have the same requirements and content as traditional programs. Students in online graduate degree programs are responsible for completing the same coursework and exams, as well as a graduate thesis or dissertation. Many programs require internship or practicum experience, which the student is responsible for completing. Students are expected to interact with their professors and classmates via discussion board posts, blogs, and video conferencing. Lectures are often presented using PowerPoint, podcasts, and verbal or written lectures.
